Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers (porcelain facings or porcelain laminates)
Veneers are custom-made shells of porcelain, which are bonded to the front side of your teeth, to provide a beautiful new smile. Your porcelain veneers can be made in a lighter color, so that your teeth end up looking whiter than before.
Porcelain veneers are stain resistant. Like all well glazed porcelain restorations, with proper care they can last for many years. Veneers are a perfect option, if you have:
- Cracked teeth
- Broken teeth
- Gaps between your teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Misshaped teeth
However, should you have darkish stained or discolored teeth or teeth which are worn, especially if they are worn due to you grinding your teeth, veneers would not be a good option.
If you would like to have porcelain veneers, the first step is to schedule a consultation with our dentist, Dr. Mattis Mamusa, at Stockholm Dental Clinic in Puerto Banus (close to Marbella). During the consultation, Dr. Mamusa will evaluate your teeth and determine if porcelain veneers are the best option for the results you want and expect.
Once it has been determined that porcelain veneers are the best solution for you, Dr. Mamusa will prepare your teeth for the procedure. Preparing your teeth consists of removing the necessary amount of tooth substance, mainly from the front of your teeth, to compensate for the thickness of the porcelain veneers.
An impression is taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab, where the veneers are made. While they are being made, you will have temporary veneers built up in composite.
Once the porcelain veneers have been delivered to Stockholm Dental Clinic, and you have approved the aesthetics of them, Dr. Mattis Mamusa will bond (cement) them to your teeth.
Your porcelain veneers are a perfect solution for many different dental problems, and can provide you with a smile that is even, and as light as you want. Veneers can for example, be used to eliminate a midline space between the two upper front teeth. Bonded to the front surface of a tooth, a veneer can restore or improve the position, shape or tooth color of the tooth treated.
